Christian Garden - A Sacred Sanctuary

Christian GardenIn almost every known religion ever in existence in the world, a sacred place or a sanctuary has been made for their esoteric, as well as aesthetics purpose. From the earliest known religions that date back earlier than the Christian tradition, there are already gardens that are decorated with life-size images of gods and goddesses, such as Christian gardens and those of the Roman Empire which have an equivalent of those of the Greeks.

Contemporaneous with this in the early Christian history, statues are seen as idols and are subject to so much negative treatments. Some are destroyed to dust while some are buried.

However, Christian gardens, as much as they are places for an encounter with God in prayer, are places of silence and solitude for those who wish to pray or even learn how to start on a spiritual journey. In reality, gardens have occupied quite a significant part in every place of worship among believers.

Monasteries for example have gardens for the different task that they are daily occupied with. Some have a vegetable garden, rose garden, and herbal garden.

But the garden where a common believer would be associated with is the Christian garden. A typical Christian garden will have the usual landscaping with plants trimmed to style with the addition of statues and symbols of important Christian personages.

Even mythical figures of angels and demons may also be present depending on the purpose of the place. Cemeteries where the faithful believers are placed to eternal rest are also decorated with these symbols.

Christian DecorationsChristian decorations come in various designs and forms that fit the important seasons and ceremonies of the faith tradition. Depending on the occasion or certain rites of the faithful, there are always accompanying decorative objects at hand.

The places that are always filled with Christian decorations are those of churches, houses of consecrated people, monasteries, convents, and cemeteries of believers in Christ. And perhaps, the most elaborate Christian decorations are those we see in weddings.

These decorations serve to create an atmosphere of faith that is essentially expressed in symbols and images that have been significant to the faith. For a number of days in the Christian tradition one can see lights, wreathes, nativity pictures, and stars of different sizes as the faithful celebrate the season of Christmas.

Christian decorations these days still express the ideals and principles of the Christian faith, although the medium used are mass produced like those of posters. But paintings and sculptures that add beauty and harmony in homes of believers are also widely available to those who can afford them. Practically, almost every house in the largest Christian denomination has a sculpted figure of important personages in the faith tradition in sizes that vary from small to the large processional type.

In some cases, Christian decorations for a simpler effect are in candles. Candles are a universal symbol of the guiding light which is important to any Christian gathering and they are also used as much as decorative objects when fashioned into significant Christian images.

Jesus Frames ArtThe life of Jesus is an important part of discipleship in the faith tradition that is as important to the believer and consequently to the study of God in himself. From the earliest records of Christianity, symbols have been used to describe Him and even natural symbols are depicted of Him. Christianity and its faith expression in the fine arts have evolved from the use of natural symbols to the description of Jesus Himself as the artists perceives Jesus to be.

Jesus in the arts, especially in the visual arts, has enjoyed a wide array of depictions, faces, and actions that cover the entire phase of his life that have been put into writing. But through time, humanity’s creativity to put life into the written words has created different varying interpretations that are personal and deep for each artist or believer. Jesus in paintings and covers are now actually in contemporary settings, although the facial expression is still deep and probing that seems to be searching one’s soul.

Jesus framed art is the modern expression of having religious symbols decorate one’s home that reminds the believers of the importance of Jesus in the life of faith. They are no longer limited to the pastoral setting of biblical times, but have expanded to the portrait type of visual presentation of Jesus.

These images of Jesus are framed and sold in different prices which are available in religious stores or shops. Jesus framed art is also available in different sizes that one can choose from.

Christian Art Decor - Jesus In The Arts

Christian Art DecorChristian Art Décor can be defined as the use of Christian images and symbols expressed in fine arts to decorate the house or any place for that matter. This is important for the development and expression of faith to the believer.

Christian art has been in existence in the early centuries after Christ’s death and has been contemporaneous within the places that early believers of The Way gather. In Rome, the sarcophagus of important persons in the faith were sculpted with images of the life to come for those who believe as promised by Jesus, that of the good shepherd and the lamb and the cross.

These Christian images, as much as they form part and parcel to worship and spirituality, were elaborately carried on for generations in the freedom that they enjoyed after the period of Christian persecution. Important buildings such as chapels and cathedrals are standing examples of how Christian art has given wings to the imagination of artisans as the Spirit inspires them.

Important figures have been sculpted to represent the person that they worship such as those of statues of Jesus and his mother that are present in a house of prayer or worship. They have become symbols of faith and trust to believers who wish to follow their examples.

Christian art décor however, goes beyond the selected images of persons in the early Christian history because of the rich imagery and symbols that Jesus and his teachings offer. The lamb, the candle, the vine, the wine, and the bread are all symbolisms of the significant acts that Jesus came to be for Christian theology.
