Christian Garden - A Sacred Sanctuary

Christian GardenIn almost every known religion ever in existence in the world, a sacred place or a sanctuary has been made for their esoteric, as well as aesthetics purpose. From the earliest known religions that date back earlier than the Christian tradition, there are already gardens that are decorated with life-size images of gods and goddesses, such as Christian gardens and those of the Roman Empire which have an equivalent of those of the Greeks.

Contemporaneous with this in the early Christian history, statues are seen as idols and are subject to so much negative treatments. Some are destroyed to dust while some are buried.

However, Christian gardens, as much as they are places for an encounter with God in prayer, are places of silence and solitude for those who wish to pray or even learn how to start on a spiritual journey. In reality, gardens have occupied quite a significant part in every place of worship among believers.

Monasteries for example have gardens for the different task that they are daily occupied with. Some have a vegetable garden, rose garden, and herbal garden.

But the garden where a common believer would be associated with is the Christian garden. A typical Christian garden will have the usual landscaping with plants trimmed to style with the addition of statues and symbols of important Christian personages.

Even mythical figures of angels and demons may also be present depending on the purpose of the place. Cemeteries where the faithful believers are placed to eternal rest are also decorated with these symbols.
